Everyday we make hundreds if not thousands of decisions. Just think about it, we are constantly making decisions. Whether it’s what to eat, what to wear, or what to do, we are always faced with choices.
Have you ever thought about how you make those decisions? Do you have a method? Sadly for a lot of people that method is, “I do what I want”, or “I do what feels right or best”.
Is that how God wants us to make decisions? I don’t think so. Jesus said, we must “deny ourselves and pick up our cross and follow Him, daily.” He said, “whoever wants find their life must lost it.” He said, we are to love God and love people more than we are to love ourselves.
Yet, we don’t take those into account when we make decisions. Ultimately life isn’t about us. It’s about glorifying God. So whatever we do, whatever decision we make should be made to glorify God. Sometimes that means you get what you want and get to do what you want, and sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes we are called upon to give up our wants, desires, and even needs for the sake of God’s glory and for our neighbors.
Let’s make decisions based upon what the Bible says and not upon our own thoughts.
The worst advice ever is “follow your heart”. The Bible says our “hearts are deceitful above all else”. So don’t follow your heart. Rather follow Jesus and ask Him what it is you are to do. Read His Word when you need to make tough decisions. Ultimately make your decisions with God’s glory in mind and I think they will be the best decisions you ever made.
