After spending a couple of wet and rainy days locked up in a cabin full of strangers I have begun to realize just how universal God’s church really is. Not that everyone in the world who says they are a Christian is a part of His church, but that if two people who are sincere followers of Christ come together, no matter their background or their current understanding of who God is, they always have one thing in common, and that is Jesus Christ.
I had the privilege of spending 2 days with the Range Community Bible Church Youth group on what was supposed to be a wilderness kayaking and camping trip. Because of the severe weather (Thunderstorms) we were forced to seek solitude in the Pastor’s cabin located about 30 minutes from Ironwood Michigan. We did get to some kayaking. I had a blast with that. It was actually much different than I expected but still a ton of fun.
We spent much of our time just hanging out together. We laughed, we joked, we prayed, and we sang. Most importantly we spent much of our time studying the life of Sampson. Judges 13-16 find the tale of this incredulous young person who seems to do everything in His power to defy God. Yet in God’s grace He is still of much use to God just as was promised to Sampson’s parents. We came away with a greater understanding of the grace of God and how He can operate through the lives of those who are seemingly uninterested in Him.
